Remortgage conveyancing
When you switch to a new lender, a conveyancer acts for the lender to register the new mortgage and pay off the old one.
Do I need a conveyancer?
Some lenders offer a free legal service for remortgages. Others require you to appoint a firm on their panel. Check your mortgage offer — if you need to appoint your own firm, comparing quotes can help.
Lender panels
For a remortgage the firm must be on your new lender's panel. ConveyMatch always checks this against recently confirmed panel data and never shows firms that haven't confirmed your lender.
What's typically included
- Title checks and searches (or search insurance, if the lender allows)
- Reporting to the lender and redeeming the old mortgage
- Registering the new charge at HM Land Registry
